TCP: Monsters Inc.

The theme for this week is For The Love of Family, and because I scored poorly when it comes to movies, I have to consult IMDB for some family oriented movies. While I was browsing the site and looking for family oriented movie, Monsters Inc was one on this category. I was a bit dumbfounded as this movie does not even involve a family. But as I try to remember the story I realized what made this one a family oriented film. It talks about family in the sense that it is beyond mother and father set up. The closeness and bond that the two main characters much like those we can see on family. They showed that boundaries and differences cannot be a hindrance to love someone.

Monster Inc is about the world of monsters. In this world, much like ours, they are afraid of things that are not common to them and that includes human. Their main power source comes from the child scream. So in order for them to have electricity, they try to scare the kids so that they would scream. They thought that body contact with humans or anything associated to humans can kill them, so they were really careful. What happens when a kid entered their world? Of course it brought chaos but what is more interesting is that how this kid transformed the life of our monsters.

Yay! for boo and Sully. Yes, it is the type of family that you don’t have to look alike but you’re still family. Great movie pick.

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and the way the monsters bonded with the child and tried to protect her was still kinship. I guess I have a very wide definition of family, LOL.
