Pinay Mom

Nov 17, 2009 under Uncategorized | 8 Comments

First of all, can I just say that I love the text of the website I am about to review. I love the text on its sidebar. The text on the main body is simple and I like it and how it compliments with the text on the sidebar. Head on to Pinay Mom to see for yourself. That was really the first thing I noticed on the website. It has n header that’s why. I also like the shade of blue used in the website, so cool to the eyes. The template is really simple but the author can maximize it more if t has three widget ready column on the footer. A little organizing on the images and it’s all good.

The site is not a personal blog (from it’s about page). As it is stated on the site, “This website (forums, blogs, etc. ) is owned by Filipina mothers all over the world – and yes, including honorary fathers and single ladies too..”. It only means that every mom and even those who are not are very much welcome on the website. I think because of this statement, readers are encouraged to participate or comment on the website. And as expected, the site talks about children, marriage, lifestyle and even events and health.

Be Practical! Kaya Mo, Pinoy!

Nov 16, 2009 under Uncategorized | 25 Comments

Practicality is something that everyone of us should have. It can save us a lot of time and money too. And if you are looking for practical tips for your everyday lives, why don’t you head on to Kaya Mo, Pinoy. Your one stop site for practical advices. This website uses a very practical template, three column, the main column on the left side (which is my favorite type of column settings). Some of the images are not displayed correctly or overlaps with the other sidebar but since it is only minimal, it is not hurtful to the eye.

The site contains practical tips about real estate, flight or airlines promos and even advices about self improvement. I find the site very useful as the contents are really something that any of us can use. Who do not want to know about the latest promo of your favorite airline? Of course we all do and even those who are not yet ready to travel (like me) can have an idea on what’s going in the airline ticket market. This is a must bookmark site I tell you.

Creative Writing Overdose

Nov 15, 2009 under Uncategorized | 7 Comments

I am not a creative write but I sometimes wish I have that talent. Yes, I envy people who knows how to weave story and put it in a paper (or on page). I really wish I can make a good story like them but I only as good as blabbing. One of the website that I wish I am the author behind is Zorlone (a dose of creative writing). This is a blog that will challenge the most creative part in you. From the header alone (yes I am all about headers, I can’t help it, it is always the first thing that I notice) one can tell that the site is very artistic in nature. Well of course the contents are just how the author promised it to be, actually more than what it promised. The header says that it is a dose of creative writing, to me I got an overdose.. but a good one I say. After reading some (yeah it was too much for me in a day) of the articles, I was really inspired, for sure I will be coming back to read more (yeah, yeah, all the entries..).

The blog, aside from its content, has a good template that adds up to the character (being artistic) of the whole site. The template does not overpower or overwhelms the articles which is a good one since the site should focus on its articles.

Photoblogging in Singapore

Nov 14, 2009 under Uncategorized | 23 Comments

Who does not like looking at photos? Specially pictures that says a thousand words? We all love pictures, right? n my case, I also love photography. In fact, I have my own photoblog (which I have not updated for a time now). Photoblogs are gaining popularity now on the blogniverse. More and more Internet users are getting more enthusiast about photography and setting up their own website to showcase their captured moments. Makoy’s Snapshots is one of many photoblogs on the net. It is  website that is focused on presenting photos from Singapore and beyond. It gives out photos from the auhtor’s dinner to its latest adventure or getaway.

As I have said  have a photoblog too so I might be a little biased with this review. I am not quite sure if the main focus of the site is to showcase the photos or to just make a journal out of it. Judging from its template and design, I think it is the latter. If that is the case, I think the author made a good journal or website for his photos. I would suggest though that the author add some description on the photos to make it more interesting and fun to read.

A Certified Blogger

Blogging is a passion. When I started blogging, I knew that I would love it. I love writing and I love the social interaction I got from blogging. Some people blog for money and some for the sake of blogging. Some maybe like me who loves the challenge of it and enjoy the earning it gives. I still not consider myself as a certified blogger (I am still novice on blogging, eherm eherm) but I knew one who is. The Certified Pinoy Blogger that is. This is a website owned by a Filipino who is currently living in Singapore. In his site it says, that “the pinoy blogger dominates Singapore blogosphere” (or blogniverse, in my term). Clearly the author knew blogging for some time now. He is authoritative on his claim about blogging.

In technical aspects, it seems that he really is a pro when it comes to blogging. I am new on this one but I do my homework so I know what an seo friendly and the likes mean. The template of the website is very SEO friendly. I guess the author put much effort for that. The pages are well indexed too and key elements like where to contact the author in case you want to advertise on his site is visible. Lastly, the author utilize social networking sites for the site’s exposure. So I must say, that the title is very apt for the website.
