Mega Bloks My Pirate Ship with Blocks and Figures

Nov 29, 2009 under Toys | 7 Comments

Mega Bloks My Pirate Ship is a another toy from Mega Brand. A pirate ship in primary colors with a crew of a pirate, a mermaid, a monkey and a parrot. The ship is headed by an eye patched captain. Pirate songs and sounds are plated touching a button (uses 3 AA  batteries). Ship measures 20″L x 8″W x 14″H.

I saw this ship in ebay and was shocked to see how expensive it was. First and foremost, I am officially declaring myself as a Mega Blocks Maxi collector (that sounds great). I do spend an hour or two on ebay looking for mega blocks, any kind of it. So when I saw this one and learned its prize, I am obsessed to have it. I want it! The price of this ship on most online store is $99, yes, that much. Then there was this warehouse sale near our place. I went there last Saturday and guess what I found? Yup, I found my ship! In dusty condition I may add and in cheaper price too! How much? less than $20!! Great! I just polished it with a wet clothe and it is a goo and shinny as the picture above.

And so we went home, thinking the toy is for me, but I was wrong. My kids was delighted to see the pirate ship. Although it was weird that the ship lacks the realness of a real pirate, they still recognize it as pirate ship (oh well I think the eye patched pirate do the trick). The best part about the toy is that it is compatible with their other mega blocks maxi building blocks (well in the first place, I wouldn’t have bought it if it is not). They really loved it and spend the whole day playing with it. They enjoyed assembling the ship and when they were done, they store the pieces under the ship. If I have more money, I would buy 3 more of this kind, really. I highly recommend this toy (and you already know that by now).

It’s SHOWTIME!!!

Nov 26, 2009 under Local Shows | 5 Comments

Showtime is a variety show in the form of competition, bringing the best and the worst of Pinoys with ambition to entertain or simply to be seen on TV. It’s all about Pinoys’ dream and their love for fun and entertainment.(source)

showtime

It’s been a week since I started watching this show and I am highly entertained by it. The contestants performs and right after that judges say their piece. The most entertaining part for me is when the judges bicker at each other. In this show, even the judges are not spared from being judged. Every week there is one or two judges that are evicted on the show (based on text voting from the viewers). There is one judge though that is excused from it.

This show can be seen Monday to Friday at our local channel (ABS CBN) right before Wowowee starts.. yes, I am a TV buff now.. ever since  gave birth to my pretty baby, my hobby now is breastfeeding while watching TV.

TCP: Marley And Me

Nov 24, 2009 under Movies | 5 Comments

This is not my first time to join Tuesday Couch Potato. I just moved it to a new  home. Before, I used my personal blog (Bee Mommy) to join this meme, now that this site (my review site) is slowly turning into a reality, might as well, out the TCP here. After all this site talks a lot about movies.

This week theme is about Animals, any movies that talk about animals. My first choice was Lion King and then I thought that was an easy choice. So I try to remember all the animal based film I have ever seen. I even searched on the net some movies about animals. I thought I can only find few movies that aare animal related but I was wrong, the list were endless. Then I remembered a movie  have seen right after our Ondoy experience. Marley And Me.

marley_and_me_ver4

Marley and Me is a story about Marley and me. OK not me, but the main character of the movie. On ts very essence the movie is about the dog and its relationship to its owner. In the movie, a young couple and newly married moved to Florida and started their family life together. Their plan or according to Jennifer’s plan (Jen Aniston) having kids is not on their to do list, not at this time yet. John Grogan (Owen Wilson) thinks otherwise. In order to ready Jen’s “biological clock”, he bought home a dog and named it Marley. The dog turns out to be a big dog, growing into a 100 lbs dog. He was not trained and do whatever he pleases. As the time goes by, their family grew, from one child to more. They moved to a bigger house and Marley was still with them. Their story, their life revolves with Marley around, what will they do if suddenly Marley is gone.

When I first heard about the movie, I thought it was a comedy/romantic one. Even while watching the first few parts, I really thought that in between the movie, there is something “exciting” that would happen to the relationship of the main characters. So you can imagine my boredom until the end, waiting for that “excitement” to happen. Obviously, I was wrong with my perception as the movie is not that sort. Yes, it’s a comedy and yes it has some touch of romance in it but the whole story is very different. It talks about dog and the relationship it has with its owner. Putting away my perception, in the end, I was really touched by the movie. I have never seen a full movie that depicts the relationship of an animal to its owner, in the most ordinary way. Yes, the movie was told in a very ordinary way, no visual effects, no extraordinary antics, nothing. The movie is about the story, that’s all.

The actors, Jen Aniston and Owen Wilson was a bit off at first. Aniston seems too old for Wilson but as the story goes on, their look finally made a truce. Having seen a lot of Wilson’s movie, I am not surprised on his performance in this one. There were actually instances that I think of hm as Dupree than John Grogan. I am not sure about Aniston’s performance as her character is just a supporting one (for me). The dog is really adorable, made me wanna have one. I highly recommend this movie, but not much to dog owners as there is too much emotions in the end.

So why did I chose it for my TCP entry? The simplicity of the story made an impact on me. It is something that I want to share to anyone and specially to my TCP buddies. Have an animal movie in mind? Click on the badge and join us!

Homey @ Home Buddies

This is not my first time to review this website. Even before I started blogging, I am already visiting this website. Back then, there was nothing much in this site except for reviews. Yeah like this site of mine. You can read reviews like Understanding the meaning of your babies cry. It’s one of my favorite article on the website. It gives so much information about being a mother. It also assured me that the author f the blog is a mother, a woman and not a guy. Some may really think that the site is run by a guy, a very technical one, may I add. See the post about How to play FVL file, play what? yeah that was my initial reaction. What is FVL? No idea too? Then go on and click the link to learn more about it.

I said this is not my firs time to review this website and the first time I did,  the template was boring (not boring but not appropriate for the site’s theme). The topic of the blog ranges from techy stuffs to some rants of a mommy. If I have to categorize this site, I can say that this is a personal blog of a stay at home/work at home mother. Now with its new look, the theme, the design of the website and the title of the blog compliments each other. The site I am talking about? Nonetheless but Home Buddies by Fedhz, who is running a contest (where one can win $200 and more). And is celebrating her birthday today.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Crayons n’ Pencil

Is it Christmas yet? No? I thought it was! OK I just got back from Crayons N’ Pencil and thought it was Christmas already. The template of the website is soo Christmas. It is like a Christmas gift wrapper and though it ifs a bit off, I find it adorable! The site has falling snows on its header and it is animated which gives the site a high entertaining value. I think I can just stare on the website’s header for hours and I won’t be bored. The use of a Christmas themed template is a wise move but I do hope the author will change it after the Christmas season.

Go head on the About page of the website and you will learn that is all about almost everything and anything.  It cover topics about parenting, personal development and even about earning online. The site is born out of the author’s desire to write. And indeed the author’s love for writing is very obvious on the website. It has some advertisement but the loading is still fast. I really like the site because of its template (I might even dream about the snowflakes tonight). Oh, the author also participate in one of my favorite meme, Girls Talk!
