Jena Isle’s Gewgaw
Gewgaw in this site means ” bauble” – “baubles” of writing. An attempt to write poems, short stories, essays, quotations and what-nots. The mind is a plethora of uncharted words. That is what the header of Jena Isle’s GewGaw Writings says. One won’t have a hard time figuring what the site is all about, it’s about poetry and creative writing.
The design of the website is very simple. It makes the whole website an easy read and gives every article a good platform to shine. Sometimes when I see sites, the designs overwhelms the real content of the blog. This site focuses more on the articles and not on the designs and it is a good point specially that most of the articles are literary.
It is easy to conclude that the theme and the title of the blog are related to each articles on the site. As it says, it is a baubles of writings, or a showcase of writings (am I right?). The site features articles from other writers too. It was not a surprise that even Buraot had his share of baubles on this site. It was not also a surprise that the author published a book, a collection of writings of different bloggers. The book is titled: Inspirational Thoughts and Stories of Bloggers All Over The World.. or they simply calls it, The Inspirational Book.

A Succesful Diary
Seiko’s Diary is clearly a personal blog written by a mother. The url of the blog states that the author behind it is a dual career mom. Reading on with the blog, I learned that the mother is a very hands on mom and at the same time a businesswoman, hence dual career. The blog presents article that are easy to read and easy to understand. It is very intriguing, specially articulate that talks about the author’s relationship with her husband and how they started. Being a personal mommy blog, you can expect a lot of entries that involve her kids. It also gives out articles about food and family activities. The blog focuses on the family and I think it’s title gives a nice description of what the blog is all about.
One will notice that the website always feature other bloggers too. Clearly, the author gives importance to her friends, as she never runs out of awards and tags and gladly share it with her friends. Even her comment section is never empty.
If you like music, you will definitely like this blog as its homepage plays different kind of song. If a reader does not like, one can just click on the pause button on the bottom the blog. The design of the blog is clean to my taste. The header is a god choice as it presents the theme of the blog. The loading of the page is OK and navigation and going through each page is easy. The entries are well archived. Added factor is the widget where social sites (where the author is a member of) are displayed (like Facebook and the likes). It shows that the bog is well linked to the author’s other site.
Random WARM Thoughts
Random WAHM Thoughts promises to talk about random things. WAHM is an acronym for Work At Home Mom. It certainly states that the author behind the blog is a mother who is working at home.
I have been a follower of this blog ever since the author learned how to blog. My relationship with the author can be traces way beyond blogging. It is a bit difficult for me to review the blog without being personal. I would try not to put any biased comment on this review and make this as objective as possible.
Let me first talk about the design of the blog. The color combination gives a warm feeling to its reader(hence I used the word WARM on my title). When you read on to the entries you will see that the image on the header is very apt to the personalty of the author. If you have to know, the author did her own template for that site. The pages are well linked and contents of the blogs are well titled. I specifically like the widget with the recent comments on it.
Staying true to its title, the blog talks about random things. The author post article about earning online, about motherhood, about her only child and even about her husband. The articles are entertaining though it was always presented with a touch of sarcasm in it. The sarcasm in each articles provided humor and adds spices making the readers want to know more about the author.
I said that I like the recent comment section widget on the website. Why? because it gives a good relation to its reader. You know that on this website, the author recognizes the importance of the readers. Aside from that, her comment section is also very inviting for comments. Any reader cannot help but comment, specially that when you read the entries, it gives you a feeling that the author is in front of you, talking to you. To summarize it all, the website is a very effective one and a must stop to every Work at Home Mommies, or even stay at home moms, or to any mom or to anyone
Offspring? (Anak Ni Kulapo)
Anak ni Kulapo, I learned is another website owned by Buraot of I Am Buraot. I was very intrigued with this blog because my husband uses buraot and kulapo as his user name on chat rooms and online games. If the man behind this website knew that slang words, I am quite sure that he is also as open minded as the hubby is.
Anak ni Kulapo is a site that aims to kill its readers through laughter and is written on Filipino language. Excuse my light tone as I juts got back from the site and I am still laughing as I write this review. Before I start talking about hilarious post and photos from the site, let me give you first the technical aspect of Anak ni Kulapo. The site loads fast even if it has a lot of images. A three column site that is easy to navigate. Sidebars are well decorated with menus, each having their own unique titles. The color combination of the site gives you the impression that it is a funny one. The header of the blog gives its readers (mainly Filipinos) a feel on old Pinoy movies (ala bakbakan nila Lito Lapid).
I have been reading the site for long now and I believe that it reached its peak on humor during the height of Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho scandal. When you enter the site, a welcoming song will give you LOL moment. The infamous Careless Whisper none the less. Another post that was related to that scandal was the VICKY BELO scandal. I almost died laughing on that entry, really.
If you’re up for jokes with a touch of slimmy green (or green jokes for ya), head on to ANAK NI KULAPO and have your ROFL moment. I promise, it is worth your floor.
