When I first heard about this ultrasound clinic, I was hesitant to try their service. It was a bit expensive for me. I have been through a lot of ultrasound in a cheaper rate ($10 or less). Still when I had some extra money and I was around their branch in SM Megamall, I cannot resist the temptation. I was 4 months pregnant then and was really excited to know the sex of my baby. It is my fourth baby and I already got three boys so you can just imagine how excited I was (and hopeful that it is a girl).

The session lasted for 20 minutes. The OB Gynecologist attending to me was very detailed and very professional. She measures the vital signs first and recorded it. After ten minutes or so, she show me the sex of the baby. It was a baby girl and I was very delighted. She really made sure that indeed it was a girl. I also saw my baby sucking her thumb and yawning. It was a very nice experience to me. The images was very crisp in their 32″ LCD screen. The best part about the clinic is that they have a viewing room for companions. I don’t have any then. A room is divided into two with two different doors. The other door is for the patient and the other door is for the family. The 32″ LCD screen was very visible on the viewing room.

I highly recommend this ultrasound clinic especially for first time parents. I assure you that your In My Womb expereince will be very memorable.

Underworld: Evolution

Jun 17, 2009 under Movies | 21 Comments

Picking up form where Underworld ends, Micheal and Selena is now a team hunting down their history. Viktor was dead and the only remaining vampire elder is Markus, brother of William (the first Lycan). Markus wants to free his brother but he only key to where his brother is imprisoned is through Selena. Will he manage to get Selena to free his brother? Or will Selena gets William first?

If the last Underworld left so many unanswered questions, this movie is all about answer. As usual, the Gothic theme is still there. The love story between Selena and Michael revolves into a new level. Although I find this movie a bit gross, I like it as much as I did the first Underworld. So far I have no favorite as the two movies are both entertaining. If you hadn’t watch any Underworld, I suggest you watch all of it in one sitting.

Underworld

Underworld plays with the Vampire versus Werewolf, know in the movie as Lycans, legend. Vampires were portrayed as secretive and very sophisticated clan. The Lycans on the other hand as street thugs. The war begun centuries ago and there is not a sign that it’s going to end soon. It escalates more when the Lycans discovered a human that can tolerate mixed blood. He can be a vampire and a Lycan too, which has been a deadly combination before. Selena, a vampire death dealer finds out about Micheal, the human target, and falls in love with him. Can they love stops the war or will only worsen it?

I first saw this movie in a friend’s house and was not able to finish it. I was really curious about the film that I rented out a copy. I really like the Gothic feel of the settings. The costumes and the way the characters are dressed are very apt to what the movie tries to proclaim. The vampires are well sophisticated with their suits and gowns. Selena’s outfit was different from other vampires but it also gives an impression that she is not just an ordinary one. It gives the viewer a head start that Selena is a rebellious one.

Selana was played by Kate Beckinsale and Micheal was played with Scott Speedman. The last movie I saw where Beckinsale is a lead star was Serendipity. Judging form her performance in that movie, I can say that she is really versatile when it comes to acting. I did not believe it at first that the same actress stars on two very different movie genre. I am not quite familiar with Scoot Speedman but he was convincing as Micheal, I think.

The story of the movie maybe based on historic legend but the twist are really interesting. The ending of the movie does not give much answer. Just like any other vampire, makes you crave for more. It’s a good thing that when I had the chance to watch it, its sequel is already on the movie house.

Normi2’s Beachfront Resort

Jun 10, 2009 under Resorts | 25 Comments

We have been to this resort for more three times already. This is our first choice whenever we consider going to North Luzon. Normi2’s Beachfront Resort is located in 9-10 Seaside, Taboc, San Juan, La Union. The resort entrance is just some meters away from the National highway. It is ver accessible and easy to locate.

What we like most about the resort is that they offer an accommodation where we can cook our own food. It is an advantage in our case as we always travel with my family. If you want to check their accommodation rates, click here for their site. Their rates are very reasonable and caters to every visitors need. They have air conditioned rooms and even economy rooms.

Aside from it being a walk away from the shore of South China Sea, the resort also boast of it semi Olympic sized pool. They also have kiddie pools. The resort even offers day only accommodation with their cottages near the kiddie pool.

The staffs of the resort were very friendly and nice. The resort also offers surfing lessons for a very minimal fee. Normi2’s Beachfront Resort has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend this site if you’re up for a Northern adventure.

Wolverine Movie Review

Jun 7, 2009 under Movies | 14 Comments

Being a fan of X Men, I just can’t let this pass. Aside from that, I want I have a huge crush on Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (the character only, not Hugh Jackman). Actually I am having second thoughts if this movie is worth leaving my kids for a night, as I have read some not so good reviews about it. I also got a hold of its full and detailed synopsis/story and even the bonus scene after the credits (spoiler!) thank you very much imbd.

Let’s begin with the story, this is not wiki or imbd so I will just give a short synopsis of the movie. X Men Origins tells the story of Wolverine, plain and simple. LOL It details the life of Logan before his memory was wiped out and even how his memory was wiped out. It tells his life, his romantic past and his very complex relationship with Victor(Sabretooth) and Stryker(remember him?). New mutants was seen and even famous one that we have been all waiting to appear. X Men Origins, as the title suggest, is the event that leads to the movie, X Men.

Hugh Jackman, of course, starred as Wolverine. Liev Schreiber ( The Painted Veil and Love in the time of Cholera, wow) as Sabretooth while Danny Huston makes Wolverine’s life miserable as William Stryker. Other characters (that is worth mentioning) are: Lynn Collins as Kayla Silverfox, Tim Pocock as the young Scott Summers and Scott Adkins as Weapon XI.

Stryker’s Weapon X unit characters:
Dead Pool (Wade Wilson) by Ryan Reynolds (Definietly Maybe)
The Blob ( Frederick J. Drukes) by Kevin Durand
The Bolt (Chris Bradley) by Dominic Monaghan
John Wraith by Will i Am
Agent Zero by Daniel Henney ( Kim Sam Soon).ohh

Then we have, no less than, Gambit himself, finally! portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.

To make this easier I’ll start with the story line. Oh well, it does give a clearer shot of Logan, but in the end, there are still questions that are left unanswered or makes you question more. The presentation of the story specially the first part was good, it really established the past of Logan and Victor. There are scenes that would make you think you are watching Australia ( Hugh Jackman’s movie with Nicole Kidman) rather than Wolverine (or is it just me?). There are boring and no thanks kind of scenes. The fight scenes are not that superb as there are scenes that are too fast (or is it an effects because of the nature of the fighters?) whatever it is, it is not very pleasing to watch. Cool scenes are of course undeniably present. Wade and Logan gives another genre to the movie, comedy (mushy kind) that is. Breathtaking scenes? just one, the helicopter scene, so better watch out for it because that is where all the action is. Breathtaking sceneries? a lot. Music wise, they don’t have any that as memorable as the other X Men movies have(I hope you know what I am talking about because right now, that sound effect is playing on my head).

I am quite confused with Gambit’s appearance, my thoughts are, is it just a way to please X Men fans? Gambit was really one of my favorite character (from watching X Men cartoons LOL) so it was quite disappointing to see him finally on this movie without much of a history about him. I don’t even consider his role a big one (what? a tour guide of Logan?), power display wise, OK he had his time.

To wrap it up, this movie is not that bad, but it’s not that good too but it was worth leaving my kids for a night.LOL

Watch it guys, if like me, who watched all the other three in cinema, why not let this one pass?
